  • Founded on Maui in 1995, Pacific Biodiesel® is the longest operating biodiesel producer in the USA and has been the sole commercial producer of liquid biofuels in Hawaiʻi for nearly three decades. The company recycles used cooking oil from restaurants statewide to produce 6 million gallons of distilled biodiesel each year at its refinery on Hawaiʻi Island; this 100% renewable fuel is sold entirely in the state.

Our Mission: To promote a clean, sustainable energy future through the community-based production of renewable fuels.

    A Pacific Biodiesel fuel station is also open to the public, located next to Talk Story Bookstore.

  • The Hanalei Bison now call Makaweli Ranch – in Kaumakani – home, where they roam the open pastures of Kauaʻi's west side. Their relocation marks an exciting new chapter while preserving a unique part of the island's agricultural history. Their new home reflects Makaweli Ranch's ongoing commitment to responsible land stewardship, sustainable agriculture, and preserving Kauaʻi's ranching heritage.

  • For more than 150 years, Makaweli Ranch has been a part of Kauaʻi's rich history and heritage. Located on the island's beautiful west side, the ranch is dedicated to responsible land stewardship, sustainable agriculture, and preserving the traditions that have shaped generations. Today, Makaweli Ranch continues to care for the land while supporting the local community and honoring its legacy for the future.
